For many of us, accepting that we need help is one of the most difficult ideas to accept.  If you’re anything like me, problem solving is a trait that you pride yourself on, which can often mean that by the time you’re ready to reach out, things might already be in a pretty bad place.  While recognizing that none of us have all the tools to go it alone can be humbling, it really is part of growth.  Connecting with other men who can speak to this challenge goes a long way to break down the barriers that can prevent us from getting honest about our struggles.

People seek therapy for many different reasons. Maybe it’s the result of a specific incident that impaired your ability to cope and progress, or maybe it’s the culmination of longstanding habits, trends, patterns and even addictions that continue to render unfulfilling or even detrimental results, leaving us feeling like we’re stuck in a loop. I make every effort to empower clients to evolve beyond their instincts and impulses if the results have prevented you from living without feeling trapped.

Sometimes therapy means learning new skills, and sometimes it means hearing someone else you’ve entrusted, reflect what you might in some way already know but haven’t been able to see.  Sometimes therapy means looking at the roots of our problems to contextualize them, and sometimes breaking habits relies primarily on creating new habits that meet the right need, when the habits we’ve been living with are no longer working for us.  Sometimes therapy is an honest appraisal about the risk of our actions and exploring ways to move towards health.
